So I have been using Spectranet routers and MiFi since early 2018, and I can attest that it is one of the best on the market if you’re looking for solutions for internet and web use, whether you’re an individual or a company and you’re in Lagos & Abuja, Nigeria.
There are times when I have plans to move to other cities in Lagos & Abuja, Nigeria, and I had to wonder if it was possible to use my routers over there; in fact, its so sad if you’re running a business online in Nigeria and you plan to work on the move because many internet service providers and network providers don’t have coverage of many parts of the country.
So I did the dirty job for you, took my Spectranet router on a journey and I have a list of Spectranet coverage areas in Nigeria to share with you.
Spectranet Coverage Areas in Lagos & Abuja Nigeria
- Lagos
- Ibadan
- Port Harcourt
- Abuja
One of the things you will notice about their coverage is that it’s mainly covering major commercial cities in the country, with others still being in the works.
While Spectranet has coverage in these cities, we also noticed their coverage is mostly in commercial and more open parts of these cities. So for example, you’d rarely have good Spectranet coverage in areas like Badagry, Ikorodu, and Ibeju Lekki. We were able to get good reception in areas like Festac, Satellite Town, Ajangbadi, and all of Lagos Island and Mainland.
We also had a good reception in the Iwo road axis of Ibadan and most of Ibadan, while the more open parts of Abuja and Port Harcourt all had good internet coverage from Spectranet.
We expect that companies like Spectranet will continue to expand their reach in Nigeria as that will help in the growth of many businesses that rely on stable and fast internet connections for survival and smooth operations.
Spectranet Internet Data Plans and Tricks we Use to get double plans
Spectranet has data plans from as low as N3070 to as high as N80,000. You have plans that offer free unlimited night browsing which begins at around 1 AM and ends at 8 AM. The Unlimited Spectranet plan is truly unlimited as the company gives you access to a free data cap of around 100GB, while any other data use after that threshold will be throttled, so you won’t be able to download and browse at a fast enough speed.
A trick we use to get double data is to wait for Tuesdays, Fridays, Sundays, and public holidays. On these days, the company offers a double data bonus, instead of buying an unlimited data plan of 19,000 which gets throttled at 100GB, we buy a data plan of 120GB for 19,000 and get free 120GB data. This way, we get double and can use the free night browsing plan.
Smile vs. Spectranet
Which will I go for if I was to choose between Smile and Spectranet? When it comes to coverage and internet speed in Lagos, Abuja, Ibadan, and Port Harcourt, I will give the pass mark to Spectranet, but when it comes to areas that they cover in Nigeria, I think Smile wins.
On customer care, Spectranet is one of the best I think I have used. They are super responsive and they attend to your queries very quickly. Smile is on the same level so that that means there will be a tie if we have a Smile vs. Spectranet comparison with support as the standard.
