LG 27GL650F-B Review

Got my hands on this super dope monitor, and I just couldn’t help writing an LG 27GL650F-B Review. So let me know what you think of this monitor and if you agree with my views in this article.

Let me just say, it’s a beast when it comes to gaming performance. The 1080p display combined with a whopping 144Hz refresh rate offers some seriously clear visuals that won’t leave you lagging behind.

And let me tell you, the response time is on point too – no motion blur to be found thanks to its black frame insertion feature.

But this monitor isn’t just for gamers – its low input lag and speedy refresh rate make it perfect for anyone looking for a smooth display experience. Speaking of which, right outta the box, the picture quality is no joke either.

The wide viewing angles mean everyone can enjoy crystal-clear images at any position they desire! Plus, if you’re after uniformity, look no further than this IPS offering – gray uniformity is outstanding here.

Of course, like anything in life, there are always caveats- as an IPS monitor, though, don’t expect much from it in dark rooms where contrast ratio and black uniformity may suffer somewhat compared to other monitors out there.

Let me quickly touch on HDR support- whilst present here, bear in mind that due to lower brightness levels achievable during HDR mode and limited color gamut capabilities, results aren’t quite as eye-popping spectacular as some might hope, but hey, overall, still certainly worth considering!”

Performance

When it comes to gaming features, the LG 27GL650F is not overflowing with them. However, what it does have is pretty impressive. The combination of a 144Hz refresh rate and an IPS panel makes for smooth gameplay and vibrant colors.

As gamers know, response times are critical for fast-action games, with slower pixel transitions leading to poor motion clarity. The LG 27GL650F might not outclass some other 144Hz monitors out there, but its response time performance is excellent for an IPS panel.

The monitor’s overall response time averages at about 12.4ms but pixels are able to reach up to 80% of their color transition in less than six milliseconds – both light and dark shades of colors (with darker shades taking slightly more time).

While this causes mild ghosting, especially in darker-themed games like Witcher 3, it’s definitely not a deal breaker.

Thankfully, there are three overdrive modes: Normal, Fast, and Faster which improve the monitor’s response times significantly, producing clear motion- we prefer using the faster mode even though there is some overshoot noticed when doing so.

LG has also included the option of using their own ‘1ms Motion Blur Reduction Technology’.

LG 27GL650F-B review

Although effective in improving motion clarity, we do not recommend it due to drawbacks such as backlight strobing, which reduces display brightness drastically, creating a flat-looking image rather than one with vibrant colors that can take away from the immersive feel desired by gamers.

This monitor works great with Freesync turned ON as you navigate through crowded streets or tackle aggressive bends in GTA V without experiencing any screen tearing or stuttering – all while maintaining perfect responsiveness throughout gameplay without additional input lag!

However! It should be noted that Freesync doesn’t work with HDR or LG’s “1 ms Motion Blur Reduction”. That said, you can enjoy super smooth gameplay thanks to G-Sync if you’re running an Nvidia graphics card (GeForce series 10 or higher) via the DisplayPort connection.

While the image quality is high, black uniformity could use some improvement. There’s also noticeable backlight bleeding around the edges, making it a little difficult when playing dark-themed games.

That said, this monitor has crosshairs included for better aiming while gaming, which is always a handy feature.”
