6 Best Power Strips with Long Cords and a Surge Protector

More outlets, a surge protector, and a cord long enough to stretch to my place of comfort, all features of a coveted piece I am looking to acquire. For someone like me who loves having my electrical appliances well set up and will sometimes succumb to the temptation of leaving my workspace to lay on my sofa, trying to work from there, having a short cord on my power strip restricts my fun. My phone, laptop, electric lamp, and other moveable appliances can all fit in one power strip.

In a Hurry? Here’s our Top Three

In searching for the best power strips with long cords and a surge protector, I made sure to consider ones with enough outlets to serve me, my guests, and for any other electric appliance, I would be getting in the future. I also considered their durability, affordability, and overall utilitarian value. I wasn’t trying to end up with a product that would be more for aesthetics.

Digital Energy 6-Outlet – Best Power Strip Surge Protector with Long Cord

The first of our best power strips with long cords and a surge protector is a 15 AMP, 120V, 1875 Watts power strip. We loved that the ports have a lot of spacing between them to allow multiple plugs be connected side-by-side.

The surge protection is rated 3500 Joules, and it keeps your electronics safe from power spikes and circuit overload. The 25 feet cord also makes it pretty easy to bring several outlets to wherever they are needed either in the home or in the garage. We were able to use this for some outdoor jobs as it’s also pretty sturdy.

We didn’t like that the power strip has only one switch to control all of the outlets, which is probably why we wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for something you can adjust based on your demands. When we use the power strip for a lengthy period, we also noticed the breaker tripping, so you would want to consider that.

Digital Energy 10-Outlet – Best Surge Protector Power Strip with USB

To have more options is a definite plus. So, yes, more outlets and one that is within reasonable pricing helps. The 10 outlets are spaced enough for multiple plug-ins. The 25ft-long heavy-duty cord is the dream cord length for many of us.

Phone adapters do not need to clog up spaces meant for other things when one can easily utilize the 2 USB charging ports designed with chronic phone users like me in mind. Interestingly, there is a phone protection feature to top my excitement about this power strip. It also satisfies and meets the ANSI / UL Standard 1363 and Standard 1449. 15 A / 125 VAC / 1875 W / 60 Hz.

The long cord is heavy-duty, and the power strip itself is lightweight, making it a great workstation and garage addition. I should also mention that it comes with a phone jack and coaxial cable outlets for any adjustment or upgrade needs. While the power strips come with support for mounting it on the wall, it doesn’t come out-of-the-box with the required screws.

GE Pro 7-Outlet – Best Heavy-Duty Surge Protector for Gaming PC

A 25ft long extension cord is an absolute must-have feature. How else can one easily navigate the need to have power where and when one wants it via a reliable outlet?

The Protected Indicator Light offers a unique cue about power status. Of course, I will not forget to mention that the Integrated Circuit Breaker, does the job of automatically shutting and resetting the switch via the Integrated Circuit Breaker, and the surge protector has a rating of 1080 Joules.

We appreciated that this power strip is elegant, clean, and practically designed. The touch of the recessed light switch was great as you’d rarely have accidental switching, the power cord is one of the best, and when we needed great power strips with long cords and a surge protector for our outdoor cinema, This GE Pro was just perfect.

Speaking of needing power strips with long cords and a surge protector for our outdoor cinema and home tech, this power strip was handy when we needed something for our laptops, drilling machine, and electric grill.

It has only one switch for all the outlets, which means if you want to disconnect power to a piece of equipment, it’s either you have it unplugged or turned OFF. The power strip doesn’t come with individual switches,

Tripp Lite 8-Outlet – Best Extra Long Power Strip with USB

Another one of our recommended power strips with long cords and a surge protector is the Tripp Lite power strip with a surge protector that comes with around 8 outlets and a 25ft-long heavy-duty cord. Each outlet on the power strip has a sliding dust protector that can be slid and sealed when the power strip is not in use. The power outlets are designed in a way that you can connect multiple plugs without interference, as it doesn’t support the bulky plugs many of us use.

The power strip comes with LED indicators that show when the strip is powered and when it is grounded. I should also mention that it comes with an option to reset the stripper by just pressing a button on the switch. So you have a switch with three options, ON, OFF, and RESET.

We used this power strip for our computer, laptops, TVs, PS5 and sewing machine and it performed well. I also want to mention that you’d be able to power your kitchen appliances like toasters, oven, microwaves, and electric cookers with this power strip with long cords and a surge protector and it should work just fine (just don’t plug them all in at once).

NTONPOWER 12-Outlet – Best Surge Protector with Long Cord

Another one of our best power strips with long cords and a surge protector is this NTONPOWER 25 foot 12 outlet power strip. This power strip with the surge protector also comes with 3 USB ports that make charging of phones and other gadgets seamless, even without a power adapter. We had a power spike a few hours after starting to use this power strip, and the surge protector seems to do a really good job.

The layout of the power strip was quite thoughtful too as there was sufficient space to insert transformer plugs, standard plugs, and USB cords

One cool feature I like that came with this power strip is the ability to mount it either on a wall or a workbench. Interestingly, it came with screws out-of-the-box that helps with mounting it on any surface you want. It did a good job of powering our household electronics and garage power tools.

Digital Energy 10-Outlet – Best Surge Protector for PC

The last of our best power strips with long cords and a surge protector is this 25 foot, 10-outlet power strip by Digital Energy. When we needed to add some extra power outlets for connecting our electronics and entertainment gadgets in our pretty old home, this power strip came in handy.

While the USB ports worked fine for android devices, we noticed that they didn’t work when we connected our iPhones and iPads as it seems the amperage of the USB ports wasn’t enough for charging these devices. We used this for our home workstation and entertainment needs, and it worked perfectly as it didn’t overload even with the extra demand. This power strip also has a roomy design, so connecting plugs to the strip was neat and there was no tangled mess.

If I was to change some things about this power strip, it would be to have the plug head at a 90-degree angle so that it can be easily plugged behind a desk or entertainment center. The Ethernet cables would have done a better job if they were CAT6 instead of the CAT5 that was losing data transfer speeds.

CONCLUSION

These 6 power strips with long cords and a surge protector are some of the best I could find that fully did all they had been advertised as. A lot of normal power strips would end up costing you more in fixing or outrightly buying a new one because they do not have the surge protector feature. Instead of having 3-5 power strips to accommodate other appliances and other people, buying one that has between 8-12 outlets makes everything better. I’ll reiterate the long cord here. There are those for the many plug-ins user and those for the minimal user.
